  • Haskell Indian Nations University: (HINU) is the premiere tribal university in the United States, offering quality education to Native American students. From the first 22 students in 1884, Haskell continues to serve the educational needs of the American Indian and Alaska Native student.
  • Iowa Tribe of Kansas & Nebraska: The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska (ITKN) is a sovereign nation and federally recognized tribe organized under a constitution and bylaws approved on February 26, 1937. We are also known as the Ioway or Báxoje.
  • Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas: The Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas has been in its present area since the 1832 Treaty of Castor Hill where the Kickapoo lived near the Missouri River. The Treaty of 1854 with the Kickapoo Tribe ceded over 600,000 acres of land to the US Government but retained approximately 150,000 acres of land.
  • Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation: All Potawatomi originated in the present-day Great Lakes Region. Over the course of history the Potawatomi people were separated and now consist of nine distinct federally recognized bands. This region is the Prairie Band or Shkotani “Prairie People.”
  • Sac & Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas:  The Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri people and their ancestors have been historically located in Canada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska. The Sac and Fox of the Missouri band were finally settled to the northeast corner of Kansas.

  • American Indians in the National Archive: Among the billions of historical records housed at the National Archives throughout the country, researchers can find information relating to American Indians from as early as 1774 through the mid 1990s.
  • National Congress of American Indians (NCAI): NCAI, founded in 1944, is the oldest, largest and most representative American Indian and Alaska Native organization serving the broad interests of tribal governments and communities. Find resources and news for all American tribes on their website.
  • Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian: A diverse and multifaceted cultural and educational enterprise, the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) is an active and visible component of the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum complex. The NMAI cares for one of the world’s most expansive collections of Native artifacts, including objects, photographs, archives, and media covering the entire Western Hemisphere, from the Arctic Circle to Tierra del Fuego.
