Custodian

We are looking for a responsible and self-directed person to help make the library a welcoming place. Responsibilities include cleaning public and office areas, cleaning restrooms, maintaining outdoor grounds areas, and assisting with building security. The successful candidate must be able to work independently. Other requirements include the ability to bend, stoop, and move up to 50 pounds, use commercial cleaning equipment, follow directions, and perform other maintenance tasks. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. $14/hour; 14 hours per week; Saturday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-6 p.m..

Teen Services Librarian
We are looking for a dynamic individual to plan and execute services for youth in grades 6 to 12. Our ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for working with teens and knowledge of young adult literature. The ability to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential.

The responsibilities for this position include:

  • Identifies needs for teens in the community, and plans and coordinates services to meet those needs.
  • Provides outstanding customer service to all ages, including reference and readers advisory.
  • Manages the Teen Zone as a safe and positive space for teens to hang out, study, navigate a complex world, improve literacy, and develop workforce readiness.
  • Maintains an engaging teen area with displays and other passive readers advisory.
  • Administers the teen volunteer program.
  • Partners with local schools and organizations to serve the needs of community teens.

Desired qualifications:

  • Completion of a minimum of 50% of course credits toward a Master’s of Library Science from an (ALA) accredited university.
  • One year of experience working with teens.
  • One year of library experience.
  • Knowledge of anime, manga, graphic novels, and video games.

This is a 40 hour/week position, including days, evenings, and weekends. The starting salary is $20.21/hour and includes a generous benefits package.

Part Time Library Assistant, Learning and Information Services
We have an opening for an enthusiastic person to join our team as a library assistant. The primary responsibility of this position is providing customer assistance, reader’s advisory, and supervision in the library’s children’s, teen, and adult service areas. The selected candidate may also assist with programs and special events. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to creating a welcoming environment for people of all ages, races, religions, abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and socioeconomic statuses.

Requires a high school degree or equivalent and at least one year in customer service. Library experience, some college or equivalent education is desired. Experience working with children and teens is beneficial. This is an 18-hour-per-week position, $15.00/hour. The schedule includes days, evenings, and weekends. The selected candidate must be available for at least one weekday closing shift and one weekend (Saturday or Sunday) shift each week.
