Manhattan Area Resources

  • Hope Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc: Hope Ranch uses horses and horse-oriented activities to provide therapy, education, sport, and recreational activities for individuals with physical, emotional, and developmental challenges as well as children considered ‘at risk.’ Scholarships are available for those who qualify.
  • Morning Star, Inc: A non-profit mental health recovery center in Manhattan that offers peer support services in a safe, trusting and healthy environment. Our mission is to empower people through mental health and substance use recovery to break through the barriers of stigma while decreasing isolation and hospitalizations.
  • Konza Prairie Behavioral Heatlh: At Konza Prairie Community Health Center, our outpatient therapy services are open to anyone in the communities we serve.   • Pawnee Mental Health: A private, not-for-profit licensed community mental health center and licensed substance use treatment facility serving 10 counties in North Central Kansas. The Crisis Stabilization Unit is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. No one is denied necessary services because of the inability to pay. They can be reached at 1-800-609-2002.
  • MHK Mental Health Providers Database: This site exists to simplify the process of finding a mental health provider in Manhattan, Kansas and the surrounding areas. This database of local providers includes information about current availability, and other information to connect you with the best possible match.

  • The Steve Fund: The Steve Fund is dedicated to supporting the mental health and emotional well-being of young people of color.
  • We R Native: A library of resources for Native and Indigenous youth with practical strategies for building resilience, coping with diverse mental health challenges, and seeking help and support.
  • Go Zen: GoZen! programs are all about helping kids to deal with anxiety, anger, and more by transforming their worry and other tough emotions into skills of resilience.
  • Smiling Mind app: Smiling Mind is a not-for-profit web and app-based meditation program developed by psychologists and educators to help young people learn the benefits of mindfulness.

  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention, and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the U.S. Call 988, or visit their website.
  • Mental Health First Aid: This website offers a wide array of resources for anyone suffering with mental illness or substance abuse. From support groups to help lines, this site can connect you to information and help.
  • National Institute of Mental Health: NIMH is the lead federal agency for research on mental disorders. Provides resources for those in a mental health crisis.
  • SAMHSA: The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration provides resources and connections, including a treatment services locator, to help with all mental health issues.
